CPCWHS1001 Prepare To Work Safely In The Construction Industry (White Card training) mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. It is designed for people who access operational construction zones (unaccompanied or not directly supervised by an inducted person) workers whose employment causes them to routinely enter operational construction zones.

Participants must be at least 14 years to take this course, 100 points I.D. are required on the day of the course.

Kingsbridge College  (RTO 46047) is authorised by SafeWork NSW to deliver NSW White Card Course.

Course Content

The competency unit CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is a training program that provides workers in the construction industry with an awareness and understanding of:

    • demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements
    • work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others
    • identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards
    • basic risk control measures
    • identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies
    • correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work
    • This course combines plain English, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners are able to have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills. language, literacy and numeracy that are essential to performance. 
    • LLN ((language, literacy and numeracy) skills will be assessed prior to entry to the course.

Assessment will confirm knowledge and skills have been achieved to demonstrate competency across the unit. Assessment will be in accordance with the Principles of Assessment and the Rules of Evidence.

Participants are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the course. If a participant is not successful in completing all assessments satisfactorily, they will need to rebook the course at the full course fee.

Volume of learning:

6 hours classroom assessment in form of:

          • written theory questions
          • case study scenarios
          • practical skills demonstration
 
On successful complete training and assessment, participant will be issued a Statement of Attainment in CPCWHS1001 Prepare To Work Safely In The Construction Industry. Participant also will be issued Statement of Training (SOT), on the day, which allow participant to start work on the construction site immediately, the SOT is valid for 60 days. SafeWork NSW will post the white card within 3-4 weeks.
All participants doing nationally recognised training from January 1, 2015 need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

The USI is a reference number made up of ten numbers and letters that creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia, from all training providers you undertake recognised training with will give you access to your training records and transcripts can be accessed online, anytime and anywhere is free and easy to create and stays with you for life

Australian Birth Certificate/card (minimum 14 years) issued by the Registrar of Births Deaths and Marriages 70pts
Australian or international passport (current or expired within last two years, but not cancelled) 70pts

Secondary ID – A combination of secondary documents is allowed to make up 100 points however If using credit/savings cards or statements (up to a maximum of 2), these must be from different financial institutions (NOTE: fiancial institutions must within Australia)

How can I get replacement of the white card?

Please contact SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50 or apply for a replacement online.

Is there an age limit for the white card?

Participants must be at least 14 years to take this course

How long is the card valid for?

This card does not expire, however if you have not worked on a construction for 2 years or more, SafeWork NSW recommends attending a course to update your skills and knowledge.

Is this white card nationally recognised?

The SafeWork NSW white cards are nationally recognised all across Australia.
